So this is the zine that me and another made this week. our theme for this zine is this pinky, blue retro distorted look. The idea was the images inside didn’t have to be super coherent as long as they stuck with the aesthetic. Obviously its not finished, but I do like this start and think it could look quite good with abit more time.

Task #10 Photo Montage
My Attempt at photo montage:

So this week we were set the challenge to create our own photo montage, either using the magazines that we had access to that day, or we could use some images that we found online alongside the images from the magazines. This image above me is my attempt. Now it’s not really that good, I’m not super use to this thing so knowing what to look for was difficult to me, but i still found it quite fun and interesting.
Hannah Hoch
So this is Hannah Hoch, she’s a german artist that works in the realms of photomontage. I think her work is just amazing! There just so beautifully creepy, and as soon as I saw that sun with the eye and teeth on the presentation i had to go look at more of her work.
To Conclude this task, i think photomontage is really powerful and expressive and just wonderful way to creating and if done right can send a message along way.

T-shirt idea
So I was doodling in procreate on my iPad as I normally do, and came up with an idea for a piece I can upload on my Instagram

But I a friend of mine recently say that I should start putting my work on t-shirts.
So I did a bit of photoshop work to see what it might actually look like, and I think they turned out well, and the design looks nice as a t-shirt. From now on I think I’m going to try and keep this on mind and maybe design some work specifically for a t-shirt design.
These are some alternate versions, where I tried to add some colour and give it a trippy vibe. I feel these ruined the mood and atmosphere of the black and white version, so I stuck with the black and white.
Task #6 Modernity & The City/Urban Playground
Task #6 Advertising
Task #5 Analysing Mass Media
Here we had to make notes on media, and the ways we consume it.
(These note where made on the one note app on my iPad, seems like a really effective way to make notes, so I’ll probably keep using it)
As you can see in my notes, we’ve cover the Chomsky’s Propaganda Model and the five filter:
Ownership
This in summary talks about how the higher up and the companies that own other companies control and dictate what messages they send us through advertising.

(An Example of this)
Advertising
The second filter deals with advertising its self, take newspapers for example that need advertising to help pay the costs for production, the underlining problem with this is the advertising that they can’t live with out are all saying and putting across there message.
Sourcing
This filter talks about sourcing and how large media corporations and Journalists are likely to get most of their sources from a specific place for most of their stories, meaning even though it meant to be an unbiased opinion it coming from the same people every time.
Flak
Flak is termed for negative responses to media comments when try to discredit them, but they normally get accused of being wrong.
Fear
Filter five normally works off Fear and scaring the public to fit in, you often see news outlet will work of one huge world ending problem to another world ending problem.
Amsterdam Trip
So while we had our week of uni because of half term I was lucky enough to go visit Amsterdam for 4 days. I was there with my friend of mine, and we did various museums, like van gogh, Moco (Banksy and other famous street artists) and Stedelijk. aswell as explored the area, and generally get immersed in the amazing atmosphere Amsterdam.
Here are some photos I got awhile I was there:
Here are some pieces of artwork from the Moco museums that i found inspiring:
Task #3 Looking and Finding
For this task we had to find out the answers for the questions using various methods of searching using the internet.
Everything including normal google searches, image search using an app I found on the app store, and just using other peoples general knowledge. I liked how this task had a wide variety of questions, I read a lot of comic in my spare time so I already knew about the original V for Vendetta comic. So when the question about it pop up I already knew the answer.
Tast #2 Timeline
Timeline made on the font Futura, link to visit the website this timelines was made on:
https://www.sutori.com/story/futura
Doing the timeline for Futura was really interesting! I found it really interesting that these fonts have such interesting and rich history, yet most people will just flick past with no idea.
